THIS WEEK ON ALL 4 ADVENTURE…
Jase and Simon along with Jesse and Sam pack up their Kimberley camp. Coffee in hand, Simon turns on the ignition and muses, “I wonder if we’ll drive over any rocks today.” Famous last words as they are straight back into rocky jump-ups. Line choice and wheel placement is of upmost importance, but it doesn’t stop them from doing a bit of landscaping along the way.
As they make their way to the Forrest River Crossing, we see the clouds are rolling in due to an unseasonable wet weather event. They are only 100ks into this 400k trek. Will this attempt be thwarted by Mother Nature the same as the last time they tried?
The concentration is exhausting as they rock and roll their way through, so they take a little pit stop at the ghost town of Oombulgurri, a settlement closed down by the government in 2011. From there, they find a camp just as the ground starts getting sticky from the drizzle. Hopefully some good fishing will put some barra in their bellies!
Day 4: The drive continues putting their vehicles to the test. It’s like driving on marbles, so they have to chain together to winch Jase and the trailer up behind. No time to enjoy the scenery from the ridgeline, as they press on to try and beat the swollen river coming up from the Drysdale station.
After a rainy night with two more inches of rain, the track is soggier and the crossings are deeper. But it’s all good fun as they blast their way through on their way to Paradise, a campsite that lives up to its name. Sam shares some of his traditional bush tucker with the boys as Jase cooks up Turkey Tikka. Nothing left to do but enjoy the view as the sun goes down!
