THIS WEEK ON ALL 4 ADVENTURE…
Jase, Simon and Jesse aren’t done exploring this beautiful, remote area of Cape York, and there are some tracks around that promise to lead to beach paradise, but will they be able to make their way through?
Mud holes abound and have the boys bobbing and weaving to get down the track. Downed trees threaten to stop them in their tracks.
As the daylight starts to fade, there’s one last crossing. But they’re surprised to find an unusual piece of machinery there being taken over by the rainforest. Just another one of those crazy things you find in Cape York.
Jesse gets stuck in a swampy hole after getting distracted by his surroundings. They pull out all the recovery gear to get him back on the harder centre to keep the forward momentum. But as the daylight fades, the bird-size mozzies start to emerge which gives them motivation to get moving and find a camp.
The next morning, Simon’s ready to find the beach, but Jase finds the wash-outs instead. It’s not all bad. Jase also spies some wild fig bush tucker.
One wash-out hangs Jase up, but a winch off the nearest tree pops him out. The boys do some roadwork repairs to make it easier on the rest of the convoy.
Unfortunately, their trail leads straight into a swamp. The very sight inspires some swear-y thoughts. It seems certain that they took a wrong turn somewhere, so they have to find a way to turn the vehicles around in this wooded area.
Backtracking was not part of the plan, so it raises the fuel concerns. The long-range tanks have gotten them this far, but there’s only a spare jerry can for each vehicle when they start running low.
The next morning, they decide to take the UTV out instead to see where the track leads. They get to a crossing that needs to be walked to ensure they can make it through in the buggy. Jesse is on croc watch, as you can never be too careful in these parts.
Some skilled driving by Jase gets the CFMoto through the swamp. Simon and Jesse hop back in, and it’s on to the beach. Jase recalls an interesting bit of history about Narcisse, a French sailor who was abandoned on this beach in the 1800s and left to fend for himself.
Luckily they’ve got their fishing gear, because the nearby creek is teeming with barra. It’s a grand finale to this epic series from K’gari to Gold!
