THIS WEEK ON ALL 4 ADVENTURE…
Jase and Simon have left the Pilbara and are heading north to the Kimberley. They launch the barge and head 125 kilometres to check out a waterfall on the pristine coastline. They drop anchor and head ashore to explore the falls and waterhole and are rewarded with a spectacular beach sunset.
The next day has an early start as they head to Whirlpool Pass and Silica Beach with it’s sugary sand. Then it’s on to Cockatoo Island home of an old iron ore mining community. After being abandoned in the 90s, it’s eerie to find much left just as it would have been with plates still left on the sink. With the blessing of caretaker Lorraine, the boys take a quick dip in the resort swimming pool.
Jase whips up some mini vanilla cheesecakes that are sure to be a campsite treat before they head out to explore the mine site with its original structures from 1951.
They can’t be out on the water without wetting a line, and the water is teeming with trevally not giving them a chance to hook anything else. So they head out for Doubtful Bay and the Sale River. They can only get so far with the monster barge, and then it’s tinny time to get them further to the rock bar.
Next Jase and Simon head back to a couple of favourite challenges they visited in The Rugged North. First up, they run the Horizontal Waterfall with the big barge before heading back out to the Montgomery Reef and reminisce about Simon’s water jug surfing from years ago.
